On this holiday you will get to see the best that fjord Norway has to offer. Visit the bustling capital Oslo, travel by train through dramatic mountain landscapes, cruise on the Hurtigruten down through Norway's fjord land and explore the historical city of Bergen before embarking on the world famous train journey back to Oslo.


Onboard the Hurtigruten ships you will have access to the very best facilities, excellent restaurants serving local specialities as well as international favourites. Relax with a book in the panorama lounge or take in the jaw-dropping scenery from the jacuzzi on the top deck.

Day 1 – Arriving in Oslo – The Capital of Norway

On arrival in Oslo (Flights to and from Oslo are not included in the price – compare prices in the search box on the left) you will be met by a NordicVisitor representative and taken to your Oslo hotel.


Depending on your time of arrival, you will have time to explore the many sights of Oslo at your own leisure. Head to the famous Vigeland Sculpture Parc, enjoy the views from Holmenkollen ski jump, or visit the Viking Ship museum.


If the weather is nice, why not enjoy a cold drink at the beautiful Aker Brygge Marina, after strolling through the Akershus fortress.


Spend the night in Oslo.

nidaros_cathedralDay 2 – By Train to The Viking Capital of Trondheim

You will catch the early morning train from Oslo Central Station towards Trondheim (departure 08.07).


The train goes over the Dovre mountain, known its many folklore tales about Trolls living there. You will pass stunning scenery, villages and nature.


You will arrive in Trondheim in the afternoon, giving you time to explore the city and its sights. Make sure to visit the Nidaros Cathedral, the larges mediaeval building in Scandinavia, and stroll through the cozy streets in this lively student city.


Spend the night in Trondheim.

Day 3 – The Majestic Fjords onboard the Hurtigruten

Hurtigruten is still an important part of Norwegian infrastructure, like it has been for over 100 years serving the Norwegian coastline. The ship sets out form Trondheim after breakfast, and you will cruise out the Trondheim fjord, past the island if Hitra.


Today you will get to experience the majestic fjords of Norway as Hurtigruten sails south.

The ship will make short stops in the towns of Molde and Kristiansund, before reaching Aalesund.


Here you will have the chance to go ashore and explore the city's remarkable architecture.


The city burned to the ground in 1904, and was rebuilt completely in Art Nouveau style, making it a very cozy place to take a stroll around.


Spend the night onboard the Hurtigruten in a private cabin.

Ulriken_cable_carDay 4 – Fjords and Arrival in Bergen

During the night the ship will make several short stops along the coast, and as morning rises you have more spectacular scenery to enjoy.


Hurtigruten docks in the old city of Bergen in the afternoon, and have the rest of the day free to enjoy at your own leisure.


Take the cable car up to the town mountain, Floyen, for amazing views of the city, or just stroll around the cozy cobbled streets, visiting the UNESCO listed Bryggen area and the fish market.

Day 5 – Exploring Bergen

You will have all day to explore this beautiful city, that is also called “The Fjord Capital”.


The UNESCO listed Bryggen port area dates back 900 years, when Bergen was a part of the Hanseatic trading league.


Alternatively, head to Trollhaugen, the home of the famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.


Spend the night in Bergen, after sampling some of its lively nightlife.

After breakfast, you will be taken on the Bergensbanen railway to Voss, where a bus will take you to the village of Gudvangen. The bus journey is a real experience, going down Northern Europe's steepest stretch of road past beautiful scenery.


Fron Gudvangen, a short cruise will take you through the most scenic part of the Sognefjord, and the narrowest fjord in Europe, the Naeroyfjord.


The cruise will take you to the village of Flaam, where you will have dinner at the local restaurant and stay the night in a hotel there.

Day 7 – The Flaam Railway and Train to Oslo

You will spend the morning in Flaam, and visit the railway museum, where you can learn more about how the world's steepest railway track was built.


After lunch, you will get to experience the railway yourself, onboard the train taking you 20km and up 900 metres to Myrdal station. The journey has been named among the most beautiful in the world.


In Myrdal you will again board the Bergensbanen train heading to Oslo, over mountains and through villages and ski resorts. This part of the journey has also been voted among the 20 most amazing train journeys in the world.


In Oslo you will again check into your city centre hotel, and enjoy you final night in Norway.

Day 8 – Returning Home

Depending on your time of departure (flights from Oslo are not included in the price, compare deals in the Skyscanner search box on the left), you will have time to explore Oslo once more.


Transfer by the handy express train from Oslo central station to the airport for your flight back home.
