On this family-oriented package you will see the southern areas of Norway, including the mountains of Telemark. Visit a zoo and an amusing park, learn more about Norway´s viking heritage and spend your nights in child-friendly accommodation.


Norway_Parliament_in_OsloDay 1: Exploring the Norwegian Capital, Oslo

You Nordic Visitor travel representative will meet you at Gardermoen airport in Oslo (flights to/from Oslo not included, compare cheap tickets in the box on the left) and take you to your hotel.

If you arrive early, you will have time to explore Oslo and some of its sights.


Take the bus out to Bygdoy and see the Viking Ship Museum, enjoy the views from the famous Holmenkollen ski jump area, or enjoy the sun in one of the many cafes along Aker Brygge Marina.

Spend the night in Oslo.


verdens-endeDay 2: Norway´s Oldest Viking Settlement

In your rental car, start your journey south along the Oslo fjord towards the cute town of Tonsberg.


Tonsberg is an old viking settlement, and the oldest town in Norway. It was founded by viking king Harald Haarfagre (Harald with the nice hair) and offers some of Norway´s best tourist spots.


The Tonsberg Castle and Vestfold Museum offers a great insight into Viking life and heritage.


Further along the coast you get to the area known as “World´s End”, on the southernmost tip of Tjome. Tjome is one of Norway´s most popular summer destinations with plenty of nice swimming spots and activities such as boating and fishing.

Spend the night in the Tjome area.



Day 3: The Norwegian Riviera

Continue down the southern Norwegian coast, also called the Norwegian riviera.


Stop off in Risor, famous for its beautiful white wooden buildings and beautiful port area.


Further down the coast you get to Norway´s fifth largest town, Kristiansand. A bustling city in the summer months, as hoards of Norwegian holiday makers travel to their seaside cabins.

Spend the night in Kristiansand.


kardemommebyDay 4: Kristiansand Family Park

Just outside Kristiansand, Norway´s most well known family park offers a large zoo, water park, theme park and lots of fun for the whole family. Entry to the park is included in the package price.

Day 5: Fairytale Country in Telemark

Go back in time as you drive North up to the mountainous Telemark area.


Farms and houses nestle in the mountainsides, and look much like they did hundreds of years ago.

Stop off to see the Eidsborg Stave Church and the Telemark Canal, considered by many to be the 8th wonder of the world when it was built.


Activities on offer in the area include horse riding, hiking, rafting, cycling and much more.

Spend the night in the Dalen area.


rjukandefossenDay 6: The Heroes of Telemark

Today you will get to see the place most famous for its World War 2 heritage, as you head to Rjukan. The hydrogen factory here produced heavy water, needed for nuclear research, and was famously sabotaged by undercover agents in 1943.


The 1965 film The Heroes of Telemark was based on the events here.


Take the Krossbanen Cable Car up for stunning views of the area.

Afterwards, get back in the car and make your way back to Oslo.

Spend the night in Oslo.


Day 7: Heading Home

Depending on your time of departure, you may have time to enjoy some more sightseeing in Oslo before taking the express train to Gardermoen Airport.
