A chance to see the Norwegian wilderness at your own pace driving across the mountains from Oslo to Bergen and the magnificent fjords of the West coast. Rental car and accommodation included.


Oslo_Town_HallDay 1: Arrival in Oslo


The holiday starts in the Norwegian capital Oslo, where a NordicVisitor representative will meet you at Oslo Gardermoen airport and take you to your hotel in Oslo city centre.


Flights to Oslo are not included in the package price, which means you can yourself find the best deal to suit you. You can compare flights using the Skyscanner tool on your left.


Depending on when you arrive, you will have some time to explore Oslo in the afternoon.


If you like your museums, an Oslo Pass can be a great investment as it gives you free unlimited travel and free entry to some 25 museums all over town.

jotunheimen-view-jpgDay 2: Olympic Spirits and Mountain Villages


IN your rental car head north out of Oslo towards Lillehammer. Only just over two hours´ drive from Oslo, Lillehammer hosted the 1994 winter olympic games and you can stop and have a look around.


From Lillehammer continue north and west into the scenic Jotunheimen, the home of the trolls.


Reaching the picturesque village of Lom, where you will spend the night in a hotel or guesthouse, you can visit one of Norway´s best preserved stave churches.

Day 3: Mountains and Fjords of the West Coast


Today you will enter the amazing fjord-lands of Norway.


An incredibly scenic route takes you down from the mountains to the world famous Geirangerfjord.


This is one of Norway´s most photographed areas, so be sure to keep you cameras ready as you pass snow-capped mountains and waterfalls.


Spend the night in a hotel or guesthouse in the Geiranger area.


geiranger_viewDay 4: The Magnificent Geiranger Fjord


From Geiranger you get to cross the fjord onboard a ferry to Hellesylt.


Take in the dramatic landscape as you cross this natural wonder and watch out for landmarks such as the Seven Sisters and the Bridal Veil.


Once off the ferry, you will continue up the dramatic Lodalen valley to the cozy town of Loen.


Spend the night in a hotel of guesthouse in the Loen area.


Day 5: Sognefjorden – The Longest and Deepest Fjord in Norway


Start the morning by driving from Loen to Lavik, where a ferry will take you across the beautiful Sognefjord.


The Sognefjord is Norway´s longest and deepest fjord an offers some pretty breathtaking sights as you cross.


The day will finish in the old Norwegian capital, Bergen, which has been a trade hub for centuries.

Spend the night in Bergen.


Day 6: Exploring Historical Bergen


Today you have the chance to leave the car parked and just enjoy all that Bergen has to offer.


Take the cable car up to the town mountain, Floyen, for amazing views of the city and access to a vast area of hiking routes.


Don´t miss the fish market by the harbour or the UNESCO listed Bryggen area.


Spend another night in this lively student town.


lofthusDay 7: Glaciers and Fjords


Head out from Bergen toward Kvanndal where another ferry will take you across the famous Hardangerfjord to Kinsarvik.


Just south of Kinsarvik you get to the picturesque village of Lofthus. Enjoy this beautiful village, placed in breathtaking surroundings with views of the Folgefonna glacier.


Spend the night in a hotel or guesthouse in Lofthus.


Day 8: Climbing Dramatic Landscapes


Today you will leave the coast and climb the mountains in your car.


Drive through the narrow Maaboedalen valley passing the highest waterfall in Norway, Voeringfossen.


Before reaching today´s final destination, mountain village of Geilo, you will pass one of Norway´s biggest national parks, Hardangervidda.


Spend the night in a hotel or guesthouse in Geilo.


Day 9: Crossing the Mountains


The final day of driving will take you across the mountain plateau from Geilo, through forested valleys and popular ski resorts as you make your way back to Oslo.


Spend the night in Oslo, and perhaps enjoy a nice meal in one of the city´s many excellent restaurants.


Day 10: Heading Home


Depending on your flight home, you might have time to explore Oslo a little more before catching the express train to Oslo Gardermoen Airport.
