What will it cost and what’s included?
Prices vary greatly from holiday to holiday, depending on length of stay and what is included in the price.
Most holidays will include airfares within Norway (some include flights from the UK too) and accommodation, but many will also include meals, excursions and some activities, although that is more often than not an optional extra.
If the package includes a short cruise, for example with Hurtigruten, dinner onboard is nearly always part of the price. But please make sure you read the small print before booking to double check.
Please remember to mention iGlobeTrotter when making your enquiry or booking.
Book your own
If you don´t mind the extra legwork and organisation needed to book your own northern lights holiday, you can save money by booking flights, hotels and activities yourself. Read our guide to booking your own northern lights holiday to help you on your way.
To give you an idea – direct flights to and from London and Tromso may cost you as little as £100-£150 per person return if you book in advance, a double room in a hotel in Tromso will set you back about £120 per night (for two people).
In total per person for a 3 night stay this comes to about £280-330, but bear in mind that you will have to add on costs such as airport transfers, meals and activities, which are often included in package prices. A meal in a restaurant in Norway could easily set you back £100 and activities often cost just as much.
If booking activities yourself, make sure you book well in advance as the most popular tends to get fully booked, especially during high season (January-March).
