Security strike shuts three airports

sikkerhetssjekkThree Norwegian airports have been forced to close after salary negotiations for security personnel broke down last night.

Over 1,000 secruity guards at airports across Norway have gone on strike, forcing several airports to close.

Smaller Airports

At the moment only Stokmarknes, Forde and Hammerfest airports are shut, and in Molde no planes are allowed to land.

Haugesund airport will also have limited capacity over the weekend.

Expect Queues

“Where security personnel are on strike one should expect long queues, things will take longer, and people should take that into account by arriving earlier,” says Comms. Director Ove Narvesen in Avinor to VG Nett.

At Oslo Gardermoen airport 59 of 670 security guards are on strike on Saturday and airport officials warn that security checks could take longer than normal.
